ABOUT ÁNANDA SURUCI
More than a retreat. A place to live differently.
Ánanda Suruci is a residential yoga, meditation and wellness retreat center set within a peaceful 12-acre spiritual eco-village near Yujing in southern Taiwan.

A GENUINE PLACE OF PRACTICE
Wellbeing rooted in everyday life.
We created our retreats to give people something increasingly rare: the time, guidance and natural surroundings needed to listen to themselves again.
Ánanda Suruci is not simply a venue used for occasional retreats. It is a living community where yoga, meditation, vegetarian nutrition, service and care for the earth are part of daily life.
Since 2014, our English-language Yoga Detox and Yoga Meditation Retreats have welcomed guests from Taiwan and around the world. Some come to restore their energy, some to establish healthier habits, and others simply need a quiet place to breathe. Everyone is met with warmth, respect and practical support.

OUR APPROACH
Care for the whole person.
Lasting wellbeing is rarely created by one technique alone. Our retreats bring together three mutually supportive dimensions of health.
01
Body
Gentle yoga, nourishing vegetarian food, conscious breathing, rest and carefully guided cleansing practices help the body feel lighter and more balanced.
02
Mind
Meditation, quiet reflection and time in nature create space between you and the demands of daily life—supporting calm, clarity and renewed perspective.
03
Daily life
Practical workshops on food, fasting, stress and healthy routines give you simple tools that can continue working long after the retreat ends.
WHAT MAKES US DIFFERENT
A retreat shaped by real experience.
Our programs are led by resident practitioners, not visiting presenters following a fixed script. This allows us to create a personal, grounded and supportive experience for every group.
✓ Small, welcoming groups with individual attention
✓ Suitable for beginners and experienced practitioners
✓ Structured days balanced with genuine time to rest
✓ Vegetarian food prepared with care
✓ A practical approach free from pressure or judgement

Dada Yogánanda
Yogic monk since 1995Meditation teacherNaturopathy trained
Originally from the United Kingdom, Dada Yogánanda qualified as a yogic monk and meditation teacher in 1995. His life of service has taken him to the United States, Uganda, Japan and Mongolia, and he has been based at Ánanda Suruci in Taiwan since 2009.
Dada became involved with Ánanda Suruci’s detox retreats in 2010. After completing naturopathy training in Cebu in 2012, he helped develop the center’s regular bilingual Yoga Detox Retreats and Yoga Meditation Retreats, which began in 2014.
His teaching is practical, calm and encouraging. He helps guests understand not only what to do during the retreat, but why it matters and how to adapt the practices to real life at home.

OUR SPIRITUAL ROOTS
Inspired by the Path of Bliss.
Ánanda Suruci was founded by members of Ánanda Márga, a worldwide yoga, meditation and social-service movement. Its name means “Path of Bliss,” and its teachings encourage the balanced development of body, mind and spirit together with compassionate service to others.
Our retreats reflect these values through meditation, inclusive community, vegetarian food, care for nature and respect for every individual. Guests of all cultures, beliefs and levels of experience are welcome. There is no expectation that you follow a particular faith or philosophy.
OUR HOME IN NATURE
A living spiritual eco-village.
The environment is not a backdrop to the retreat—it is part of the experience.
Ánanda Suruci includes an organic vegetable farm, an orchard with more than 40 varieties of fruit trees, six ponds, rainwater collection, grey-water filtration, gardens, community spaces and a dedicated yoga and meditation center.
Living close to the land naturally slows the pace of the day. Guests can walk among the trees, watch the lily pond change with the light, enjoy food prepared with seasonal produce and experience a simpler relationship with time.

YOU ARE WELCOME HERE
Come as you are. Leave with something that lasts.
You do not need to be flexible, experienced at meditation or accustomed to retreat life. You only need a willingness to pause and explore a healthier, more conscious way of living.
