Wellbeing Through Natural Treatments

Gentle, supportive practices that create space for the body to rest, the mind to settle and a healthier daily rhythm to emerge.

A COMPLEMENTARY APPROACH

Supporting wellbeing as a whole

Modern medicine is essential for diagnosis, emergency care and the treatment of many health conditions. At the same time, everyday wellbeing is shaped by the way we eat, move, rest, manage stress and relate to the natural world around us.

Naturopathy, as we understand it at Ananda Suruci, is a gentle, whole-person approach. It focuses on creating supportive conditions for body and mind through nourishing food, rest, movement, meditation, fresh air, water-based treatments and time in nature.

Our purpose is support—not a promise of cure. These practices complement appropriate medical care and are adapted to the individual.

Natural wellbeing practices

Each practice is gentle, unhurried and placed within the wider retreat programme of yoga, meditation, nourishing food and rest.

01 · NOURISHMENT

Fresh vegetarian food

Food is one of the most practical ways to care for the body. Our retreat meals are fresh, vegetarian and based mainly on vegetables, fruit, whole grains, legumes, nuts and seeds.

A varied, plant-centred diet can provide fibre, vitamins, minerals and many beneficial plant compounds. We aim for food that is satisfying, simple and enjoyable—supporting steady energy and comfortable digestion without unnecessary heaviness.

Our meals follow the yogic tradition of sentient vegetarian food and do not contain meat, fish, eggs, onions, garlic or mushrooms.

02 · WATER

Gentle hydrotherapy

Water has long been used in many cultures as part of rest and self-care. At the retreat, gentle practices may include warm baths, foot baths, compresses and time in natural hot springs.

Warm water can encourage relaxation, while cool applications may feel refreshing and invigorating. These treatments are offered as supportive wellbeing practices, not as cures for illness.

Comfort first: water temperature and duration should always feel safe and appropriate. Tell the retreat team about circulation problems, reduced sensation, pregnancy or relevant medical conditions.

03 · EARTH

Cooling mud packs

Natural mud packs are a simple and calming part of our detox retreat programme. Applied externally, they offer a cooling, grounding sensory experience and invite participants to slow down, rest and reconnect with the natural environment.

The practice is kept gentle and comfortable. Mud is not applied to broken or irritated skin, and participants should mention skin sensitivities or other concerns beforehand.

04 · LIGHT & AIR

Sunlight, fresh air and nature

Time outdoors is one of the simplest ways to reset the rhythm of the day. Light and dark are important influences on circadian rhythms, including the sleep–wake cycle. Gentle walking, fresh air and green surroundings can also help us feel more settled and present.

At Ananda Suruci, the gardens, orchard, ponds and surrounding hills create space to step away from screens, schedules and constant stimulation.

Enjoy sunlight sensibly: seek shade during strong midday sun, stay hydrated and use suitable clothing and broad-spectrum sun protection.

05 · WARMTH

Herbal teas

Herbal teas can be a pleasant part of a calming daily routine. Chamomile, ginger, peppermint and other herbs have long been enjoyed for their flavour, warmth and traditional uses.

“Natural” does not always mean risk-free. Some herbs can cause allergies or interact with medicines, and certain products may not be suitable during pregnancy or for particular health conditions. When in doubt, ask a qualified healthcare professional.

A QUIETER WAY OF LIVING

A simpler rhythm

The purpose of naturopathy at Ananda Suruci is not to promise a quick cure. It is to offer a quieter, more natural rhythm: wholesome food, yoga, meditation, rest, water, sunlight and time in nature.

By returning to these foundations, we create space to listen more carefully to the body, calm the mind and develop habits that can continue long after the retreat has ended.
